Fairy Sighting: Pine Pixie

She swings along on the scent of the pine and rests at the base of her beloved tree. Here she can overlook Colorado mountains, aged rocks and the silence of the forest. She thrills at the green signalling the world is waking again. The sun's blaze is softened through treetops and she loves the play of shadows it casts. Deeply inhaling the perfume of the woods, she knows she is home.

Fairy Sightings: Child of the Cacti

Here among the cacti thorns she sits cradled in her mother's arms. Safety is here. No one who knows her mother's power to use the bristles would dare to threaten her child. The sun bathes them in warmth and the child grows strong with nectar from neighboring flowers. Soon the she will be as familiar with the ways of the cacti as her mother, the Queen of them.

Fairy Sightings: Guardian of Souls

She keeps watch over tombs of souls gone by. The gardens are watered with tears; the air is thick with prayers. She hovers over small ones with tenderness. She gives older ones their due respect. She listens to the silence of lives once lived and memories once happily made. Peace resides here, a deep, quiet solitude.

Fairy Sightings: Distant Song

She rides among the ruins, history in its folds. Their distant song echos in her heart. She keeps their stories hidden and nurses tulips in their memory. She knows the secret, that even among ruins, beautiful things can grow...shining, swaying, beautiful things. And as they rise, hope rises with them.

Fairy Sightings: Mother of Weeds

The  mother of weeds delights in nothing more than decorating a plain lawn with a multitude of purple blooms. Mowers are her vice and she jinxes them as often as possible. She prefers a field of unbidden growth where her tender weeds are allowed to flourish in abundance and fill the world with vibrant color.

Fairy Sightings: Chapel Window

She peers in with curious wonder through stained glass windows. It's a world she doesn't belong to, etched in mystery that intrigues her. There's magic within she doesn't understand. Someday she may enter, but for now, this is as close as she's comfortable getting.

Fairy Sightings: Daffodils

Her flowers have finally emerged and she hides among them. She cloaks herself, too timid to be seen; but her beauty shines in the faces of her flowers. She's nurtured them as tenderly as a mother with a babe and now they lift their necks into the wind showing the world her masterpiece. Even the sun cannot help but smile at the color of their pedals.

Fairy Sightings: Upon a Tree

She tiptoes along the branches like a bee upon its flower. She whispers gently, reminding the tree of what it has been, and who it will become again. This is only a season, she says, and seasons change. There will be new foliage and beauty in the spring. Hold on. Nothing stays the same, not even the bareness of winter. The tree finds comfort in her words, for it knows she is wise.

Fairy Sightings: Snowfall and Roses

She brings her own version of beauty to the new fallen snow. The winter wonderland is heightened by her presence and her gift of a blooming white rose. She's out of her element here, her norm of springtime and flowers. Other fairies have flown, but she remains because she knows there's a secret hidden in the tender snowfall. A secret of forgiveness. The world's imperfections all forgotten in one simple, white blanket of snow.

Fairy Sightings: Fallen Tree

She pretends to hide, but actually loves attention. Her giggle echos across the field; mischievousness circles her like a halo. Childishness gives her bravery and a mind full of pranks. Photographers beware, she'll trip you and laugh at your folly.

Fairy Sightings: Under the Icicles

Under the icicles, she perches astride the fence. The cold stillness of the day doesn't seem to bother her, she's too settled in her thoughts. I envy her, so perfectly content and absorbed she doesn't even notice me. And I long to be there ~ the peaceful sitting, the silent pondering of nature's beauty, bringing priorities into focus. Keep on spinning, world, but I'll pause in the quiet moments. I'll ponder my own shortcomings and contemplate plans to improve. I'll soak in the beauty around me. I'll stop worrying about tomorrow and enjoy this tender, fleeting moment.
