Weekend Photos

We've had a rough go here at the Denton house. It feels like we're living our own version of the movie, The Money Pit. But the weekend was brightened with a happy discovery of a Boba Tea shop near us! (How did we not KNOW this??)

Each person got their own version of a one word description on the Boba tea lids and weirdly (in my opinion) they described each one well. Here are a few of them:

This beautiful dogwood bloom is from the garden of my dear brother-in-law-and-sister-in-law's garden. It was a perfect way to relax on Easter.

I hope your week is off to a good start. Mine's off to a super busy one, but it'll feel good to have everything done in the end.

Wishing you a happy Monday!

Photos from the Archives

Since it's Girls Scout cookie time, thought I'd remind you of this delicious idea, make them into an ice cream sandwich. My favorite is mint chocolate chip ice cream in the middle ~ extra minty!

This was part of my process painting a guitar for a friend. I had to put paint brushes in the holes to keep the paint from clogging it up.

These flowers are from a darling little Thai place my sister and I love to visit. It's got the yummiest sticky rice and mouth-watering Pad-Thai.

Remember when I had hair long enough that I could pin it up and do cool things with it? I'm trying to remind myself of this as I grow my pixie out. *deep sigh*

I had fun discovering these past moments in my archives. It was a nice walk down memory lane. Do you enjoy browsing old photos? Are you a scrapbook keeper? I'm terrible at scrapbooking, maybe that's why I keep a blog ~ my virtual scrapbook.

In my Studio Cupboards

The studio muse and her sidekick, washi tape.

There are so many uses for distress ink: backgrounds, definition, canvas corners, shading, and on.

I have a slight obsession with alphabet letter stamps.

As well as bugs, shapes, patterns and homemade stamps.

I have a dream of sewing someday . . . so here sits the pretty material waiting to be used.

A close-up of more fun-to-play-with stamps. Did I mention I like stamps?

What fun stuff is hidden in your cupboards?

Fairy Sightings: Mother of Weeds

The  mother of weeds delights in nothing more than decorating a plain lawn with a multitude of purple blooms. Mowers are her vice and she jinxes them as often as possible. She prefers a field of unbidden growth where her tender weeds are allowed to flourish in abundance and fill the world with vibrant color.

Fairy Sightings: Chapel Window

She peers in with curious wonder through stained glass windows. It's a world she doesn't belong to, etched in mystery that intrigues her. There's magic within she doesn't understand. Someday she may enter, but for now, this is as close as she's comfortable getting.

Fairy Sightings: Snowfall and Roses

She brings her own version of beauty to the new fallen snow. The winter wonderland is heightened by her presence and her gift of a blooming white rose. She's out of her element here, her norm of springtime and flowers. Other fairies have flown, but she remains because she knows there's a secret hidden in the tender snowfall. A secret of forgiveness. The world's imperfections all forgotten in one simple, white blanket of snow.

Over the Weekend

We celebrated my husbands birthday Saturday night by meeting at a yogurt place with friends. It was fun and laid-back just sitting around in a big group chatting. That's his beautiful fruit/yogurt creation, isn't is pretty? I love the options they give for toppings, so many to choose from.

How was your weekend?

Photo an Hour: Birthday Edition

This is probably more of a gift-an-hour post rather than photo-an-hour, ha. I did much better this birthday at noticing each tiny moment; but not so well at taking a photo on the hour. It was a savory, relaxing day.
After morning coffee I had this sweet stack of presents waiting for me.
A coffee ring, literally. hee-hee. I think they know me. Isn't it the cutest??
Lindor chocolates? Oh yes, they know me. And in case you're wondering, I shared.
If you've followed me for long, you know how much I love Tink, or any fairy really. I can't wait to wear this!!
That evening we went to a Jamacian restaurant that I love and pretty much pigged out on curry chicken, plantains and festival bread. This photo naturally blurred yet I love how it subtly shows my family.
We walked to some really cool shops and I loved almost everything in this one.
See what I mean? Who couldn't love a felt camera case as adorable as this?
And who doesn't need a purse that says, "Love More"? It was kinda hard not to spend all my birthday money.
They had tons of candy, many of which we'd never seen. My husband made a game of it. He said he'd buy us all a candy bar of our choice but it had to be one we hadn't tried before. We scoured each bin and took forever to choose.
My daughter made this cake for our Thanksgiving dinner, but I sort of adopted it as my birthday cake. Kind of wish I could stick a finger in that icing right now. Such sweet moments in this one simple life.

She's Baaaaack!

So happy to have my daughter home again! Last night she told stories until she fell asleep mid-sentence. She hadn't slept for three days on the trip back so she hit the wall of weariness pretty hard. I'll be spending today by her side spoiling her rotten.

Photo An Hour:: Iced Chai

8:00 I met my birthday friend for coffee and ordered iced chai! Yummy.
9:00 Celebratory pancakes and great conversation.
10:00 Found these adorable theater chairs while thrifting--didn't buy them though.
11:00 Drove through a neighborhood full of Gingerbread Houses. I love these!
12:00 Lunch. Seriously, I don't eat this bad all the time, but I had coupons. *ahem*
1:00 Wrote post-it thoughts on a new painting series.
2:00 Dropped Ron Weasley's food, but he didn't mind eating off the ground.
3:00 Decided which design I wanted to paint on the guitar.
4:00 Blogged upcoming posts.
5:00 Ran errands with cookie monster.
6:00 Fancied up to celebrate my friend's birthday with a girl's night out (and I sneaked in an outfit shoot too).

After a night of so much fun I've decided this: I NEED MORE GIRLS NIGHTS!

What fun things have you been up to?
