Inspire Me Thursday: Hope

The word Hope keeps running through my mind.

Yesterday was tough.  First the news about Haiti.  So much loss and tragedy; it's hard to comprehend it.  Then came news from my friend.  She has cancer.

I grieved about both.  I felt helpless.

But I'm not helpless.  There are things we can do for the people of Haiti.  And I can walk beside my friend through whatever she must endure.

This picture (above) is from my art journal.  It's childlike (inspired by Suzi Blu) but I like it that way because children are the best bearers of hope.

  1. I'm truly sorry to hear about your friend. My prayers are with you with hope for healing.

I feel helpless watching the tragedy in Haiti, wishing I was a nurse or laborer or something useful.

  2. So sorry about your friend. When it rains, it pours sometimes. My prayers go out at well.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope treatments go well. I've been sad about Haiti too. I wish I could be closer and be able to do something tangible for the people there, but I can send a little money and pray for them. It doesn't feel like enough though.

  4. First off, I like that picture. It's simple but powerful.

Secondly, you are correct. There are things we can do, despite our helpless feelings. We can always lift up a prayer to the one being who is greater than all things. In your case, you said it right, you can be there with your friend through what comes ahead. It will be difficult, but with support from friends and family, they will be so much better off through it all.

THIRD! I love the new layout

  5. Elle, I feel the same way. I know a group going to take water filters (they drink through it like a straw to get fresh water) with WaterIsLife and I'm dying to go with them.
Kristin, yes it does. Thank you.
Natalie, she's going in for an MRI today so we'll see. I know what you mean, but they need whatever we can give them.
Voidwalker, thanks on all your kind words. I've changed the layout several times trying to make it how I want it. But I think it's finally there. The twitter bird is the only thing I haven't figured out. I can't get it to link.

  7. Hi Catherine, I haven't been making my blog rounds lately-- just swamped by life-- and I see I've missed some of yours. I'm sorry about your friend, such news can only be devastating, but I admire your hope and courage. That is what your friend needs. She's lucky to have you. Blessings, Catherine.

  8. Being by your friend's side is the most important gift you can give, along with your hope. The artwork says it all.

  9. A very touching piece. You inspire prayer and give hope to the rest of us who are not in a position to provide assistance. Hope is ever present in the eyes of God's children. God bless you, your friend and the survivors in Haiti.
