Beyond Sweatshirts: Lady in Red

Outfit: Thrifted
Tights: Target
Boots: Sorry, I don't remember

Kind of felt like I should dress up in red sincet it's February--Valentine's Day and all that. I'm more of a skirt and dress-wearer in the fall and winter because of my boots.

I've gone a month and a half trying to get beyond sweatshirts and dressing up more, I've noticed a few things: 1. Dressing up is easier than I thought it'd be. It doesn't take anymore time to throw on a cardigan than it does a sweatshirt. 2. Having said that, I do tend to spend a bit more time on my hair. You know, when you're all comfy it's easier to opt for the ole clip-a-doodle thing. But when you're fancy, you want to match your hair to the outfit. 3. Being dressed up helps me get things done. Sometimes when I'm slouchy in sweatshirt and jeans, I don't tend to put make-up on or go anywhere. When I dress up, I'm more likely to put makeup on and be ready to leave at a moment's notice. It's made errands so much nicer.

Some of you have expressed interest in dressing up and going beyond sweatshirts. Feel free to leave a link to your pictures in the comments. I'd love to see them!

  1. love it Catherine!
I have found. as well, that when I take the time to dress up a little more I walk taller, feel more confident and much more feminine.
    Have you found that?

It kind of feels like a celebration lol
    guess we are celebrating us!

    love and light

  2. A nice splash of color, too ... Means Spring is coming! I've never been one for sweats, really. I'm more inclined to wear jeans, boots, sweater, that sort of thing. I like scarves, too, and wear them often.

  4. Oh girl, I so admire your beyond sweatshirts experiment! I say that as I'm sitting here in my robe, leggings and extra comfy socks waiting for Brandon to arrive.

    You look beautiful!

  6. You are adorable. Yes, I'm one of the people who has professed a desire to go beyond sweatshirts, but since I mostly own sweatshirts, dressing up would require going shopping and shopping takes time. I'm just not there yet. :)

But YOU look gorgeous! And I will aim to be like you some day.

  8. You are too cute! I love this outfit with the browns and reds, tights and boots. Love the pic with you leaning against wall sideways...shows your whole outfit in such a cute way. also the close ups with your pretty eyes.
I am amazed at the no sweatshirts but I can totally see how it would keep you fixing the hair more and getting more fully ready. (loved the hair swoop comment haha, have my that way presently)
