Let It Snow

Oh  how I've been pining for snow. We got a tiny taste of it this week, just enough to wet my appetite for more. This has been the weirdest winter--more like an early spring. Please don't throw stones all you warm weather friends, but I'm ready for at least a foot of the icy fluff.

Winter has always been romantic for me. (I was married in it, remember?) I'm not wishing for any electricity-out-for-weeks kind of storm. Just enough snow to make snow ice cream, build forts and throw snowballs. Come on winter, let it snow.

I'll add Let It Snow to my shop soon, but she needs a few touch-ups before I release her.

  3. I too love the snow. We have also had a very warm winter. Last night it turned really cold and there was a prediction of a few flurries. That would be wonderful.
Your girl is beautiful. I love her hat and her beautiful big eyes. You have inspired me to start working with texture.

  5. I love the texture you have added to your painting! I totally agree with you! I love winter...I don't want a lot of snow, but some would be nice. It's not natural to be in the 60's in January! :-)

  8. This piece is so cute and totally captures the cosy snowy feel! And I totally agree with you. We had a really early snowy winter last year (that left the country at a standstill as always) but this year has been so mild there are already daffodils popping up. I did want a white Christmas but as that wasn't to be I'm just biding my time for our city break to Krakow in Feb (last time we went it was -23!!)

  10. She is so cute. When I was a girl, I saw a picture of a winter wedding and the bride had a similar headpiece. I loved it and thought I wanted to be married in the winter. I got married in June, and now, I'm not married anymore. I'm missing the snow, too. We want to go sledding! And, our ice-fishing contest got post-poned. (I don't ice fish. The contest is a huge fundraiser.)

  11. She's gorgeous! I just adore your style. Well, somehow you've made my winter wishes come true. I've been feeling the same way and now it's snowing! I'll send it your way or maybe it's already there.

  12. *throws a pebble* lol kidding!
Seriously though, it's been warm down here. It finally froze last night, but we only see snow flurries every couple of years. :( I did get a nice taste of snow out at Lake Tahoe in November though, so I'm thankful for that!
    Lovely painting :)

  14. Love the texture. She's awesome. It doesn't snow over here in California, sometimes I do wish for snow, but it will never happen. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

  15. Okay, what are all these great textures? She looks like she is ready to ice skate! WE(in Illinois) finally got so decent snow yesterday and still a little today. About 4 or 5 inches. Everything looks beautiful and the snowplows and shovelers are all hard at work.

I love the combination of blues, brown and that gorgeous pink on her lips!

We had our very first snow day in St. Louis yesterday...after record-breaking high temperatures last week! :)

  19. Gloria, the textures you see are modeling paste, paper from China a friend gave me (like tissue paper) and paint chips from leftover paint.

Liza, NEVER had snow ice cream? Oh you must try this recipe: Snow Ice Cream

She needs to come to my home!;) She captures the winter feel and winter is one of my most favorite seasons!! 23. Fabulous snow bunny and hat! I begged for one like this as a kid, and it never once snowed where we lived. I was delusional.

I'm with you on wishing for a few days of snowy goodness.

  24. I love snow, but only when it's where I am. When it's close but not close enough, all I get is cold. :-/

Sadly, I now live in a place where only the mountain tops get snow.

  25. This is really a snow queen piece. Lovely. I lived in snow country most of my life. I now live on the OR. coast, no more snow for me you can have it.
