DIY Dishwasher Magnets

Have you ever run a load of dishes in the dishwasher again because you weren't sure if they were clean? Here's a project that'll be an easy solution for that problem.  Start with rectangular wooden pieces along with business card magnets. I got mine from Michaels.

1. Gather your materials. 2. Paint the background a light color. 3. Sketch a line to be the bottom of the cup. Add rounded sides.  Finish the top with a flattened oval for the opening and add a handle. 4. Paint the mug whatever color you'd like. 5. Now it's time for adding details. On one rectangle put extra drips of coffee down the sides of the cup. On the other, add a shining, clean star. 6. Use a Sharpie to write Dirty and Clean above the coffee cups. 7. Attach the rectangle to the sticky side of the business card magnet. 8. Cut excess off the edges.

Now it's ready for your dishwasher!

Would You Rather?

Josh Jack Carl
It's time for a game! I'd like to know more about my party guests so let's play Would You Rather. You can leave your answers in the comments.

Would You Rather--
  • Rock'n'Roll or Country?
  • Shazaam or Golly?
  • Three friends or Eighty?
  • Manicured or Bitten?
  • Romantic or Memoir?

Would You Rather-- (my answers)
  • Rock'n'Roll or Country? Rock'n'Roll, I love hair-swinging music.
  • Shazaam or Golly? I'm geeky because I like them both; but I'd be more likely to say, "Golly".
  • Three friends or Eighty? Hmm, I love having LOTS of friends. But, I probably have three that I share most intimately with.
  • Manicured or Bitten? Unfortunately, I bite my nails but I'd prefer to have them manicured.
  • Romantic or Memoir? Memoir. I like romances if there's something else going on like fighting for the world and falling in love along the way. But romance just for the sake of romance is not my thing.
Ready to share your picks?

DIY Good Luck Charm

DIY Good Luck Charm

Since it's almost St. Patrick's Day, I thought it'd be fun to make a good-luck charm.

1. Paint a round wooden disc green and let dry completely. 2. Print a small photo of your loved one. I used my husband, but it could be a child or friend. 3. Trace an outline sketch of the picture--lay paper over the printed picture while holding it against a sunny window (see how on A Beautiful Mess). If you're uncomfortable sketching, you can just use the copy. 4. Cut out the sketch (or copy) and glue on the disc with ModPodge. Paste over the top of the face gently. 5. Once dry, write "My Good Luck Charm" around the top. 6.Thread embroidery floss through the hole to wear as a necklace.

Blog Party!!

Divine Party Concepts
Hello everyone! Today I'm throwing a blog party! There'll be fun blog games, do-it-yourself projects, exciting giveaways and surprises. I'll be posting throughout the day until 8:00p.m.

If you don't know, I'm throwing this party in honor of my daughter going to Africa this summer to work with orphans. I'll be offering 30% off any order in my shop for 24 hours. Simply use the coupon code: AFRICABLOGPARTY.  All proceeds will go to my daughter's trip!

To get our party started, I am giving away this original painting:
Hope is a favorite of mine. Partly because she has pink hair; and partly because she reminds me of my eldest daughter. The thing about Hope is that she's one tough girl. She doesn't let discouragement overcome her. Her bright hair and outlook on life may sometimes fade but never disappear. Trials bring her to life with passion stronger than ever before.

For a chance to win this painting, simply invite others to the party and let me know where you did it in the comments (leave a link if possible)! I want as many people to come as possible; the more the merrier, right?  Each link is an additional entry so please leave separate comments to keep me from overlooking them (Twitter, Facebook, Blog, etc.). This giveaway closes at midnight; I'll announce the winner shortly after.

Check back often today so you won't miss out on any party goodness! I'm happy to have you here. It's gonna be fun. *Happy Party Hugs*
