{sort of} Loving Lately: New Hair

Okay, full disclosure: I cut it...not sure I love it. I do love that the long hair is gone. But I may need to tweak this "do" a bit. My hairdresser cut it just like I showed her, picture in hand. However I think my hair is too thick for the cut I wanted, even after being thinned. Instead of laying down straight and piece-y, it tucks. It sort of looks like bowl-cut. *grimace*

Yeah.

So I played around with it, letting my natural wave shine through and added a few curls. Oh, and I colored it too. You know, pumpkin everything. Haha. Not really, but yes, I colored it. Maybe I just need some time to adjust, but it feels heavy on top. Think I want a more tapered look but I'm going to hang with this a little while and see if I like it better after a few days. Thanks for all your help in choosing a hairstyle; it may be difficult to tell in these pictures, but I ended up going with the first one.

What are you loving lately?

  1. I do love it! It's very retro, old-hollywood looking, I think, and super cute. You probably just need some time to get used to it. :)

    1. Well, I love your descriptions of retro and old-hollywood. :) Yeah, I'm gonna give it some time. :)

  2. I love this length on you. Your hair has a lot of natural curl and I think you'll get use to the fullness. You had a lot cut off at once which takes getting use to. I went from long to short one time too. And it's taken a few trims to get it to lay down on the sides of my head like I like it. I think you'll love it!!

    1. I'm already loving the ease of fixing it, but yes, I think time will help. :)

  3. It's adorable Catherine! But if you don't like it just google hair photos for some ideas on how to wear your new cut. But I love it! It's sassy! :)

  4. I think it is super cute. Very bold of you to go so short so suddenly!

I am loving my Mondays lately. I have the day off, I've got the house to myself, and I can get a lot (or a lot of nothing) done.

  7. I love the color. The style is great too. I rarely ever like my hair right after it's done. You may like it more after you get used to it.

    1. It's so true, sometimes hard to love it RIGHT after. I'm liking it more. :)

  8. I'm so glad you chopped it off! Even if you're not loving it yet, maybe you will find the "sweet spot" as it grows out and then come back to that length again in the future. I can't tell for sure since you're not looking straight ahead (boo!) but I think I like it! I'm iffy about the color though to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful! And it goes really well with your skin tone. I think it's just me. It reminds me of my auntie who passed on years back. She was one of those old ladies who always died her hair but it would come out looking candy colored haha! Yeah, I think it's just me. the more I look, the more I like it. It's really complimenting. Hooray for taking the jump! Share some more pictures so we can tell you how much we love it again and again ; ]

    1. My sister said the same thing about wanting me to look up at the camera. I'll try to do another shot soon now that I've had some time to work with it. :)

  9. Catherine, as a woman in my forties who's struggled with the short and the long of it my whole life, I think it is absolutely adorable! I love it! The cut and the color are playfully soft, artistically inspiring, and free, just as you are. What a courageous thing to make such a big change! I think it suits You.

  10. It's cute! Give yourself a little time to get the hang of styling it how you want. I think the fluffy curls look carefree and a little wild. What a nice "problem" to have -- thick hair full of body. :)
