Truth Thursdays: About Marriage

Us at age four, sixteen years before we meet.
  • It's never exactly like you think it'll be.
  • The lovey-dovey feeling isn't forever constant--it's more like a merry-go-round circling back again and again.
  • The beginning years are full of adventurously discovering one another; the latter years are full of discovering the world with one another.
  • There's an uncontested comfort in having someone know your yuck and stick around.
  • No marriage is perfect. There is always regret, anger, frustration, and loss. ALWAYS. But there is also success, encouragement, forgiveness and tender love.
Happy Anniversary, to the one that's loved me through all my junk. Thanks for sticking around, I love you!

  1. Love this! I am getting married in August and it's interesting to see and hear about other people's marriages. Marriage is a big commitment and a long time to share your life with one person, but if done right it's an incredible blessing! In a marriage, both just have to always give 100% no matter what.

    Love your blog!

  4. Great post! Totally agree. Almost married for 15 years now, and though our newlywed years were fun, I wouldn't go back for anything. I love the idea of discovering the world with one another, although there are always new things to discover about each other along the way. Usually, they're good things, like how amazing your spouse can be when a family member dies, or how supportive he can be when you have babies...all in all, I highly recommend marriage! Happy Anniversary to you!

  6. Happy Anniversary :)

I know what you mean! It'll be our 11th anniversary next June - just crazy to think of ;p
Feels like forever and never, is how we both describe it. And if we were to offer 1 piece of advice to others, it'd be
'Never hold back on being honest for fear of hurting the other. Because in the long run (or short) the truth comes out. Often more painfully than if you had been honest in the first place'
Yeah... relationships are a constant WIP aren't they :)
