Balance

It's hard to keep everything in balance (note the crooked balls on her head). I created this piece awhile back when things felt completely out of balance.  Tonight the temperature is 49 degrees Fahrenheit (thanks WriteStuff).  I feel happy.  I never knew weather could affect me so much until this year, and apparently, I feel joyful in cooler weather.

Fall represents beginnings to me.  It was when I was born, when I started school, and when I met my husband.

Juggling all life throws at you is difficult, but I'm glad to be alive and able to try.

Balance is taking that breath.  Appreciating what you've got and moving forward.  It's saying no to some things and yes to others.

I keep this little girl named Balance close to me, hanging on the lamp between my art table and bookshelves.  She reminds me to remember the treasures I have of health, family and faith.

What keeps you in balance?

  4. I love the sentiments in your post and the great imagery of the girl balancing the balls. I also prefer cooler weather which I never used to but for me now there is something about winter - cold crisp days. I was born in winter and met my husband in winter so maybe there's something in that?!

  5. Balance comes for me when I don't neglect things, people and places I love. I guess it's all about listening to our hearts.

  7. I am a much happier person in the fall. I am a bear to live with in the summer, and each summer, it gets worse and worse. I may need to move to Seattle... :-)

  11. I can totally relate on the temperature thing. I am usually completely miserable all summer long. Once the weather changes and that crisp chilliness descends on me, my mood changes.

  13. Right now I am balancing the need to remain a law abiding citizen with the overwhelming desire to strangle my pouty husband.

This is a great artistic way to remind yourself what's important.

  18. Reading posts like yours keeps me in balance! And doing art of course. Sometimes I stress about it before I start but once I'm into it ,painting calms me down and puts everything in perspective. Music also puts me in balance, can't live without it! I love your little tag, its beautiful and a great reminder! Deb

  20. BALANCE .. still trying to teach that concept to my 28 & 23 year old sons! But guess I haven't been the best role model ... LOVE your 'Balance' piece. Health, Family and Faith ... so very important ... I agree! Happy PPF!

  21. I'm still trying to balance working, housework, garden, home improvement with my art.....doesn't always work because I tend to hyperfocus on one thing and let the rest go until I come up for air Happy PPF

  22. Balance isn't an issue when your lying flat on your back. It's not often that I get up and stretch my emotional legs, which I'll admit is limiting, but safe. :)

  23. Wonderful painting. I love the meaning behind her too! So important to balance or things just become too overwhelming! (I am more of a cold weather girl myself. I'll take a turtleneck over a bathing suit any day!)
