Capsule Wardrobe: Autumn, Cool Colors

I adore creating mix and match capsules of the smallest proportions. This set is about as perfect as they come: 5 tops, 5 bottoms, 1 dress, 1 jacket, 1 sweater, 3 accessories, and 4 pairs of shoes. Simple, perfect. Everything goes with everything in a great mix of cool colors and varied patterns. It's also casually dressy without being uncomfortable.  Comfort is the most important attribute to me. I am not a believer that fashion pain is gain. I believe comfortable clothes build confidence. The more comfortable you feel, the freer you are to do good work.

What's your favorite outfit in this capsule?

  1. I can so see you wearing all these pieces!
I think I'd wear the black skinny jeans, the the Aqua t-shirt and the comfy sweater layered on top.
As I was reading this, I glanced over at my closet and sighed — it needs to be cleaned out bad! I'm curious, how did you get over the "but what if I need/wear this in a few weeks?"

    1. And I can see you in that! :) In answer to your question, I kept my favorites in the closet then boxed up items I wasn't sure about and put them in the top of my closet for a month. If I pulled them out within the month (or however long you want to give yourself) then I knew it was something I would wear. If a month went by and I didn't even think about it, I sent it on.

The Minimalists talk about how, here in the west, anything we need that we DID give away is usually at a store within a 20 minute radius and most likely $20 or less. So it usually doesn't end up costing you a lot if you gave something away that you then want to re-purchase.
